Omaha Storm Chasers News Release

LAST NIGHT'S WIN: Brett Hayes belted two home runs and drove in four runs to power Omaha to a 10-7 decision over Nashville Monday night in the first of four meetings at Greer Stadium. The Storm Chasers won their second straight game to improve to 28-33 and move to within 2.5 games of first place Memphis after the Redbirds were swept in a doubleheader at home by New Orleans.

MASTER THIEF: Jarrod Dyson notched four steals in yesterday's win, the most in a game for the Chasers this season and most by any player in the Pacific Coast League this season. It was the most steals by an Omaha player since Roy Holbert stole four at Iowa on May 4, 1999 (David Lough had three steals on August 21, 2010 vs Memphis). In his career with Omaha, Dyson has stolen 62 bases in 68 attempts.

ACE VENTURA: #3 Royals prospect Yordano Ventura allowed just one hit and one run in five innings while striking out six in his Triple-A debut last Thursday. Ventura has 80 strikeouts in 62.2 innings across Double-A and Triple-A this season, one of only 12 players in all of the Minor Leagues with 80 or more strikeouts. Ventura is one of only four players of those 12 to total all their K's at the Double-A level or higher (Brian Flynn with Jacksonville/New Orleans and Neil Ramirez and Carlos Pimentel with Frisco).

SAY HAYES KID: With his third two-homer game of the season, all against Nashville, Brett Hayes extended his on-base streak to 18 games, the second longest streak this season for a Storm Chasers batter (the longest streak was Anthony Seratelli's 20-game streak from May 10 to June 1). During the streak, Hayes is hitting .311 (19-for-61). In five games against Nashville, Hayes is batting .500 (11-for-22) with six homers, nine runs scored and 14 runs batted in.

FEW RUN RELIEF: Dating back to the series finale with Memphis on June 4, Omaha relievers have allowed only one earned run (and two runs total) in their last 23.0 innings. Chasers relievers have given up seven earned runs in 36.1 total innings this month, after giving up 50 earned runs in 89.1 innings in May.

BIG FRAMES BACK-TO-BACK GAMES: The Chasers have used six-run innings in their last two games, the first time this season they have had back-to-back games with five plus runs in one frame. Last season Omaha accomplished that feat twice, on August 26 and 27 vs New Orleans and Memphis and on September 1 and 2 vs Albuquerque.
