
RedHawks Sweep RailCats in 14-3 Blowout

GARY, Ind. - Ryan Babineau was 4-for-4 with an RBI but the RailCats were swept by Fargo-Moorhead in a 14-3 drubbing on Sunday. The RailCat fall to 30-38 on the season.
Fargo-Moorhead scored runs in seven of nine innings. The first four RedHawks had hits in the first inning, as Zach Penprase tripled, Buddy Sosnoskie doubled, Nic Jackson singled and Eric Campbell hit a double to give Fargo a 3-0 lead. It ended a 12 2/3 inning scoreless streak for RailCats starter Will Krout, who had thrown a four-hit shutout against Sioux City on Tuesday.
Penprase hit a sac fly in the second to make it 4-0 and then added an RBI groundout in the fourth. They added two more in the fifth with four straight singles with two outs, making it a 7-0 game. Back-to-back doubles in the sixth by Jackson and Campbell gave the RedHawks an 8-0 lead. In the eighth, they scored four more, highlighted by a three-run home run off the bat of designated hitter Ryan Delgado. Jackson added a two-run double in the ninth to cap the scoring.
The RailCats scored on a two-run single by Chris Carrara in the eighth and Babineau's RBI single in the ninth.
The RedHawks scored 34 runs over the course of the three game series, while holding the RailCats to eight. Fargo has won seven in a row and 35 of their last 41 games.
Krout (2-4) gave up eight runs on 15 hits in seven innings in the loss. RedHawks left-hander Jake Laber (4-5) held the 'Cats scoreless in seven innings of work. The RailCats have an off day on Monday and start a three-game series in Sioux City on Tuesday night at 7:05.
