
Lemurs Have Tough Time against Blacksher

Laredo, TX - The Wichita Wingnuts (39-29) starting pitcher Derek Blacksher held the Laredo Lemurs (31-35) to three runs on five hits, allowing three walks, and striking out one, to earn the 8-3 win on Sunday night at Uni-Trade Stadium.
Blacksher (6-3) retired the first batter in seven of the nine innings that he pitched in tonight. He also retired the side in order four times in eight full innings. The Lemurs put the ball in play against Blacksher only striking out once, but they were not able to put hits together to score runs.
The Wingnuts got all their runs from the top of the order. Wingnuts leadoff hitter, Ryan Khoury reached base five times in five at bats and went on to score four runs, and steal four bases. The number two hitter, Wilberto Ortiz reached base twice on walks and came around to score both times. The number three hitter, John Rodriguez reached base four times, scoring twice on the night.
Matt Way (7-5) took the loss for the Lemurs, only his second loss at Uni-Trade Stadium this year. Way went seven and a third, giving up seven runs, on nine hits, he walked six, and had five strikeouts.
The Lemurs are heading on the road for an 11 game trip that will take them to Lincoln, Nebraska, Grand Prairie, Texas, and El Paso, Texas, for their longest trip of the year.
