Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks News Release

FARGO, N.D. - The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks (21-15) used Casey Hoorelbeke's second straight save to secure a 4-3 victory over the Sioux Falls Pheasants (14-22) Sunday afternoon at Newman Outdoor Field in Fargo, ND.

Today's game pitted Jake Laber and Ben Moore, the pitchers with the second and third best ERA in the American Association, against each other. Although neither would have their best outing of the year, there was no doubt of the talent on display.

Laber (5-1) came out on top of this league leader matchup with his fifth win of the year in just eight starts. Laber pitched 6.2 innings and had six strikeouts while allowing two runs. Casey Hoorelbeke (3) got the other seven outs and the save.

Moore (4-2) had nine strikeouts in only six innings of work but did allow all four RedHawk runs and received his second loss of the year. RedHawk batters had a successful game plan as they made Moore throw 123 pitches and had nine hits in those six innings, forcing his early exit.

Jason James and Mike Coles led the attack for the RedHawks. Each of them had a single and a double during the game. Coles also scored two runs and had a stolen base.

The RedHawks will travel to play the Gary SouthShore RailCats this week for a three game series. The next home game will be on Friday, June 24 against the Sioux City Explorers. Game time is 7:02 pm. Tickets are still available and can be purchased by calling 701-235-6161, online at www.fmredhawks.com, or at the Ticket Office during business hours.
