Sioux City 4, Lincoln 3
Sioux City LF TJ Bohn went 2-for-2 at the plate with a double and an RBI as the Explorers defeated the Lincoln Saltdogs 4-3. The Explorers jumped out to an early 2-0 lead, courtesy of an RBI each from SS Ryan Priddy and 2B Derek Schermerhorn in the top of the second inning. Schermerhorn went 2-for-5 on the night. Sioux City RF Kent Sakamoto went 2-for-4 at the plate and scored two runs, and 1B Javier Brito went 3-for-5 with a run scored and an RBI. Trailing 4-1, Lincoln rallied back with a RBI double from LF Gavin Dickey in the seventh and a RBI from 2B Joe Ramos in the eighth inning. The Saltdogs' comeback was cut short though when Sioux City reliever Andrew Snowdon pitched a scoreless ninth inning to earn the save. Explorers starting pitcher Ty Marotz earned the win and pitched eight innings on the night.
Kansas City 13, Winnipeg 3
Kansas City amassed seventeen hits and 3B Rico Washington homered twice and doubled as the T-Bones routed the Winnipeg Goldeyes 13-3. Washington went 4-for-5 at the plate, scored three times and had five RBIs. The T-Bones' bats were hot right from the start as they scored four runs in the first inning, courtesy of SS Jimmy Mojica's solo homer, C Kala Kaaihue's RBI single and DH Prentice Redman's two-run home run. Redman was 2-for-4 on the night with three RBIs. T-Bones starting pitcher TJ Large pitched six innings, allowed two earned runs and struck out six hitters to earn the win. For Winnipeg, SS Price Kendall had two RBIs in a losing effort.
Amarillo 11, Wichita 6
After conceding five runs in the top of the fifth to fall behind 6-2, Amarillo immediately rallied in the bottom half of the inning, scoring four runs to tie the game 6-6; the Sox then went on to score five more runs in the game and beat the Wichita Wingnuts 11-6. Sox 1B Cyle Hankerd had five RBIs on the night, including his two-run home run in the bottom of the sixth that reclaimed the lead for his team. In all, Hankerd was 3-for-5 at the plate and also scored two runs. Also for the Sox, DH Tim Alberts batted in two runs on the night. Sox relief pitcher Pat Overholt replaced starting pitcher Travis Lawler in the fifth, and went on to earn the win. Overholt pitched three and one-third innings without conceding a run. For Wichita, DH Josh Workman homered and collected three RBIs in a losing effort.
Shreveport-Bossier 5, Fort Worth 4
Shreveport-Bossier rallied to score three runs in the bottom of the ninth to grab a 5-4 victory against the Fort Worth Cats. Fort Worth had built up its 4-2 lead with a pair of solo homers from C Kelley Gulledge and an RBI from RF Marcos Rodriguez. Down to their final at-bat, Captains LF Palmer Karr Jr. hit a one-out solo homer to make the score 4-3. Captains C Brian Peterson then drove in SS Bryan Frichter with an RBI single to tie the game. Second baseman Mike Provencher then drove in Peterson with the game-winning single. Captains reliever Lee Henry earned the win for his one inning of scoreless work in the top of the ninth.
Grand Prairie 4, El Paso 1
After falling behind 1-0 in the first inning, the Grand Prairie AirHogs scored two in the third and added two insurance runs later in the game to beat the El Paso Diablos 4-1. AirHogs starting pitcher Bo Schultz pitched six innings and, after conceding a run in the first, buckled down to limit the Diablos to just the one run. Schultz scattered seven hits and struck out four batters. AirHogs 1B Greg Porter went 3-for-4 from the plate with a homer and three RBIs, and 2B David Espinosa had three hits in three at-bats with two runs scored and an RBI. Grand Prairie reliever Jon Hunton pitched a scoreless ninth inning to close the game out and earn the save. For the Diablos, 1B Kyle Nichols went 2-for-4 at the plate with an RBI.
