Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks News Release

Fargo, N.D. - It was another back and forth game in which the RedHawks battled, tied it, but eventually lost in the last inning. In front of 2,760 fans at Newman Outdoor Field, the RedHawks fell 5-4 to the Wichita Wingnuts.

Kirk started on the hill for Fargo-Moorhead. He left after 5.2 innings pitched, allowing four runs (all earned), while he walked only one and struck out five. Mike Noteware came out of the bullpen and turned in quality innings, going two strong innings with no runs and one hit.

Anthony Capra started the game for the Wingnuts and turned in a good start as well. Capra went 5.1 IP with four runs allowed (three earned), while he walked three and struck out four.

Ty Kelley returned to the mound in the ninth-inning after only facing one batter in the eighth trying to preserve the tie game. He gave up two hits, with Alberto Gonazalez driving in the go-ahead run to give Wichita the 5-4 lead.

It seemed as if a repeat of last nights' walk off win was ocurring. Salerno appeared at the plate, this time trailing 5-4, with two outs and runners on. He faced an 0-2 count again, but this time went down on strikes to end the game. Zach Penprase continued to hit the ball well for the RedHawks. He went 2-for-4 with two runs scored. Both of Penprase's hits tonight were doubles. He is now 5-for-7 in the series with Wichita.

Daniel Carela earned the win in relief for Wichita while Ty Kelley took the loss for the RedHawks. Matt Nevarez also recorded his fourth save of the season.

With the loss Fargo-Moorhead drops to 4-9 while Wichita improves to 8-3. The two teams return to Newman Outdoor Field Thursday night for the last game of the three game series. Jeremy Gooding comes off the disabled list to make the start for Fargo-Moorhead. Pitch time is scheduled for 7:02 p.m.
