RH Brandon McCarthy (3-0, 2.39) vs. RH Charlie Haeger (2-2, 5.55)

TONIGHT: The RedHawks begin their final road series of the regular season with the first of 5 at Albuquerque. The Isotopes are 5 games back of the RedHawks in the American South. OKC failed to hold a 2-0 lead entering the ninth last night and fell 3-2 to settle for 3 out of 4 in Round Rock. OKC is 18-19 in 1-run decisions, 6-7 in games with a walk-off finish and 55-2 when leading after 8. The other loss was opening night against Albuquerque, when the Isotopes tied the score 3-3 on a Prentice Redman 2-run homer (the only home run allowed by Pedro Strop this season) and won in 13 innings 6-3.

THE BIG 5: The RedHawks bring a 5-game division lead over Albuquerque into tonight's opener of a 5-game series. OKC's magic number to clinch the division title is 10. OKC and Albuquerque have each had a game cancelled with no makeup, so they will play 143 games barring further postponements.

NOT MAKING THEM EARN IT: The RedHawks dropped a walk-off 3-2 decision last night in Round Rock. Up 2-0 entering the ninth, Tanner Scheppers failed to record an out after working a 1-2-3 eighth. Scheppers loaded the bases in the ninth with nobody out on an infield hit and 2 walks. A run scored on a hit batsman, the tying run arrived on a single and the winning run on a fielder's choice grounder to first followed by an errant throw home by Chris Davis. In each of OKC's last 4 road losses the winning run has scored in the opponents' final at bat (3 of them walk-offs) and the deciding run has been unearned in all 4 losses. OKC has allowed the third-most unearned runs (88) in the league, including 1 in each of the last 3 games.

IRIBARREN DRIVES THE OFFENSE: Hernan Iribarren has hit safely in 17 of his last 19 games dating to Aug. 5, going 30-for-73 (.411) with 3 homers and 16 RBIs in that span. Since Aug. 5, Iribarren features the PCL's fourth-best batting average behind Iowa's Marquez Smith (.424), Iowa's Micah Hoffpauir (.417) and Nashville's Adam Stern (.415). Iribarren has lifted his batting average from .240 to .270 in the last 19 games.

FOUR STRAIGHT QUALITY STARTS: RedHawks pitchers delivered 4 quality starts in the series that ended last night in Round Rock. The starters were 1-0 with a 1.80 ERA (25 IP, 15 H, 5 ER). The bullpen was a collective 2-1 with 2 blown saves and a 3.60 ERA (10 IP, 6 H, 4 ER).

PITCHING LEADERBOARD: The RedHawks maintain the PCL's best ERA at 3.82. They have allowed the fewest home runs (85) in either affiliated Triple-A league. The only team to have more than a 2-homer game against the RedHawks is Iowa, which collected a pair of 3-homer games and one 4-homer contest in the season series.
