The RedHawks opened a four-game series in Fresno by allowing four Grizzlies home runs in a 10-3 loss Tuesday night.
Fresno jumped out to a 5-0 lead through two innings against starter and losing pitcher Nick Bierbrodt (1-3).
Third-inning homers by RedHawks Andy Fox and Pete Zoccolillo, the latter a two run shot, closed the gap to 5-3. But Fresno countered with a run in the third, two in the fourth and two more in the eighth to seal the win, its seventh straight.
Brad Hennessey (3-0) kept his record perfect since being promoted from Double-A by tossing eight innings, allowing three runs on six hits.
Jason Ellison belted two home runs for Fresno, while Todd Linden and Adam Shabala also homered.
The RedHawks, who maintain a 9 1/2-game lead over Nashville in the PCL East at 58-45, stopped Dave Doster's 32-game hitting streak. The Fresno second baseman had accumulated organized baseball's longest hitting streak of the year until going 0-for-4 against Oklahoma pitching Tuesday.
Game two of the series is Wednesday at 9:05 p.m. CDT. Chris Young, just called up from Double-A Frisco, will make his Triple-A debut against Fresno left-hander Noah Lowery.
