The Colorado Springs Sky Sox drop game one of four to the Tacoma Rainers, 8-1, on Tuesday night. Sky Sox starting pitcher Jeff Francis had another solid start going 6.0 innings allowing 3 runs (1 earned) on 7 hits while striking out 9. The Sox defense was their undoing, allowing 5 unearned runs on the night. The Sox lone run on the night came on a 9th inning solo home run by catcher J. D. Closser who finished the game 1 for 3. The Sox and Rainers go at it again on Wednesday afternoon beginning at 1:35. On the mound for the Sox will be Vladimir Nunez (2-3, 7.50) opposed by Matt Thornton (6-5, 5.57) for Tacoma.
