WEST SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- The Sacramento River Cats (61-43) lost 10-3 to the New Orleans Zephyrs (46-57) on Tuesday at Raley Field. Sacramento scored 3 R in the ninth to avoid the shutout.
RHP Mike Ziegler (2-3) took the loss, allowing 5 ER on 7 H in 5.0 IP. RHP Jared Fernandez (3-8) earned the win for New Orleans. He went the distance, allowing 3 ER on 6 H in 9.0 IP. The River Cats scored their 3 R on a ninth-inning home run by LF Dan Johnson.
The River Cats and Zephyrs will play the second game of their four-game series on Wednesday (7:05 pm) at Raley Field.
