Evansville Otters News Release
The Ohio Valley Redcoats used a six-run eighth inning to propel them to a 7-5 victory over the Evansville Otters.
Evansville took the initial lead in the game with a two run double off the bat of Juan Downing to give the Otters a 2-0 lead. Evansville would hold the lead until the fifth when the Redcoats exploded for six runs, the key blow a double by Darren Uranga.
The Otters closed the game to 6-4 in the seventh. Jason Mann led off the inning with a homerun onto the Prudential Prime Locations Outfield Pavilion to make it 6-3. Frank Scott then walked. Three batters later, Cole Hilt singled home Scott to make it 6-4.
The Redcoats added an insurance run in the top of the ninth to make it 7-4. The Otters were able to score a run in the bottom half of the inning, but it was not enough as Brad Kirsch picked up his first save of the season going the final 2.1 innings.
Ty Kline (1-0) got the win for Ohio Valley. Chris Pillsbury (0-1) took the loss for Evansville.
The two teams will finish the series tomorrow with Ben Foster (0-1) taking the mound for the Otters against Ryan Childs (1-0) for the Redcoats. It is Ameriqual fireworks night at the ballpark as Ameriqual will sponsor postgame fireworks. Game time is at 7:05 p.m. Tickets are available by calling the Otters sales staff at 435-8686.
