WHAT: Negro League Tribute
Unveiling of new original artwork by Danny Broadway

WHEN: Saturday, July 17, 2004
4:30 p.m. - gates open
5:30 p.m. - unveiling of artwork

WHERE: AutoZone Park

WHY: Saturday night's game features a salute to former Negro League players, with more than 10 ex-Negro Leaguers on hand to sign autographs from 4:30 to 5 p.m. Both teams will wear throwback uniforms in honor of the occasion, and the Negro Leaguers will all take part in the first-pitch ceremony. As an additional part of the evening's festivities, the Redbirds will unveil a new original piece by renowned artist and University of Memphis graduate Danny Broadway, created in honor of the Negro League ballplayers. Limited edition prints will be given to the first 1,500 fans in attendance that night. The Redbirds plan to auction off the original at a later date to benefit the Memphis Redbirds Baseball Foundation.
