Colorado Springs Sky Sox News Release
The Colorado Springs Sky Sox defeated the New Orleans Zephyrs 3-2 Thursday night at Zephyr Field. Sky Sox starting pitcher Chris Gissell had a spectacular outing, going 6.0 innings giving up 3 hits, 1 run (all earned), 2 walks, and 3 strikeouts. Third baseman Garrett Atkins, and catcher J.D. Closser both hit solo home runs to lead the Sox offense. Zephyrs' catcher Chris Tremie went 3-for-4 at the plate with a run scored. The Sox and Zephyrs' go at it again Friday night at 6:05 for game two. RHP Brian Tollberg will start on the mound for the Sox against RHP Taylor Buchholz for the Zephyrs.
