Lehigh Valley IronPigs News Release
The Lehigh Valley IronPigs and Rochester Red Wings wrapped up their four-game series Sunday at Frontier Field. The Red Wings scored four runs in the bottom of the first inning and limited the Pigs to just one in the 6-1 victory.
The Red Wings jumped out to a 4-0 lead against Pigs starter Jake Waguespack (0-3). A three-run double by former IronPig Taylor Featherston capped off the big opening frame for the Red Wings.
Rochester added two more runs in the bottom of the fourth inning on a two-run sacrifice by Leanardo Reginatto. Waguespack was lifted after the third inning, allowing six hits and six runs while striking out five.
Stephen Gonsalves (2-0) began the afternoon with 4 2/3 perfect innings. Mitch Walding broke the string of 14 straight IronPigs retired with a solo home run to right field.
The Pigs were limited to just four hits in the game -- two by Walding and one each from Joey Meneses and Nick Rickles.
The bullpen contributed four innings for scoreless relief from Tom Windle, Hoby Milner and Austin Davis. They allowed just one hit and struck out five.
After scoring 16 runs in the series' first two games, the Pigs were limited to just one run in the final two games.
The Pigs return to Coca-Cola Park on Monday for a three-game series against Pawtucket. The seven-game homestand will run through the weekend as the Pigs are set to play a four game series against Buffalo.
