INDIANAPOLIS -- Center fielder Jason Repko and shortstop Trevor Plouffe combined to go 7-for-10 with two runs and three RBI and the Rochester Red Wings plated three runs in the top of the 10th to take home a 7-5 extra-inning victory over the Indianapolis Indians on Tuesday night at Victory Field.

With the loss, the Indians fall to 17-15 on the season, while the win improves the Red Wings record to 13-19. With the victory, Rochester pulls the series even at 1-1 and drops Indianapolis to 12-5 over their last 17 games.

With several family members in attendance, Repko got the Red Wings out to a quick lead when he singled, stole second and came around to score on a single by Plouffe. Then, after Indianapolis evened the score in the third when CF Jose Tabata doubled and eventually scored on a Rochester balk, the duo came through again in the fifth as Repko drove home 1B Brock Peterson with a double and then came plateward on another run-scoring single by Plouffe.

Indianapolis then evened the score in the bottom of the fifth when INF Kevin Melillo collected his first hit in an Indians' uniform with a single to right and came around to score his first Tribe run one batter later on a double by SS Brian Friday. The back-and-forth battle continued as the Tribe jumped out to their first lead of the contest the following frame when 3B Pedro Alvarez singled, moved to second on a base hit by DH Brandon Jones and trotted home on a base hit by C Erik Kratz.

Rochester retook the lead the following frame when a double by LF Jacque Jones was followed immediately by a run-scoring single by Peterson. However, the Indians would not go away quietly as Friday led off the bottom of the seventh with a walk, moved up to third on a groundout by Tabata and came around to score on a clutch two-out double by 1B Brian Myrow.

Myrow's RBI double would in fact send the Indians to their first home extra-inning contest of the season, where Rochester quickly jumped on the Indians with three runs in the top of the 10th. RF Brian Dinkelman began the rally with a one-out double, moved to third on a wild pitch and, following a hit by pitch by 2B Luke Hughes, came around to score on a fielder's choice by DH Dustin Martin.

Later in the frame, Martin stole second, moved to third on a wild pitch and trotted home on an infield base hit by 3B Danny Valencia. Jones then sealed the deal for the Red Wings when he brought home Valencia with his second double of the season to push the score to 7-4.

Though Indianapolis would plate a run in the bottom of the 10th on single by RF Brandon Moss, a double by Melillo and a run scoring groundout by Friday, Rochester closer Anthony Slama (1.0 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 1 SO) would shut the door for his seventh save of the season. Fellow reliever Rob Delaney (1.0 IP, 1 H, 1 BB, 1 SO) tossed an inning of scoreless relief to move into a tie for first in the International League with five wins on the season.

Neither starter figured in the decision as in his Indians' debut RHP Hayden Penn (6.0 IP, 8 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 0 BB, 6 SO) allowed three runs on eight hits, while striking out six over six innings of work and Red Wings starter Jeff Manship (5.2 IP, 7 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 3 BB, 5 SO) allowed three runs on seven hits, while striking out five over 5.2 innings of work. Indianapolis reliever Jean Machi (1.0 IP, 3 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 1 BB ,1 SO) suffered his first loss of the season after allowing all three Rochester runs in the 10th.

Along with Repko (3-for-5, 2 R, 1 RBI) and Plouffe (4-for-5, 2 RBI), Valencia (2-for-5, 1 R, 1 RBI), Jones (2-for-5, 1 R, 1 RBI) and Peterson (2-for-4, 1 R) also turned in multi-hit efforts for the Red Wings, while Jones (2-for-5), Kratz (2-for-5, 1 RBI) and Melillo (2-for-4, 1 R) all collected multiple base knocks for the Tribe.

The two teams continue their four-game series on Wednesday, May 12 at 1:00 p.m. as RHP Brad Lincoln is expected to get the nod for Indianapolis and RHP Matt Fox is the probable starter for Rochester.

The contest will be carried by WXLW-950 AM and broadcast live on Comcast and Bright House Networks digital channel 81 with Howard Kellman and Scott McCauley on the call. The pre-game show on WXLW-950 AM begins at 12:40 p.m.
