Gwinnett Falls To Pawtucket, 5-1

The Gwinnett Braves fell to the Pawtucket Red Sox 5-1 at McCoy Stadium Tuesday. James Parr lasted only 3.0 innings, giving up five runs on six hits. Gwinnett (15-16) remains in second place in the International League South behind division leader Durham. Pawtucket improved to 13-19 with the win.

It Was Over When: In the 2nd inning with Daniel Nava on first, Aaron Bates homered to right field. Later that inning Josh Reddick singled on a line drive, plating Bubba Bell. Pawtucket's three runs in this inning gave the team a lead they would never lose.

Braves Beat: On the Mound: Parr went 3.0 IP, giving up 5 R/ER and 2 two-run home runs. Cristhian Martinez pitched a solid 4.0 innings in relief, holding Pawtucket scoreless and tallying 4 K's. Jeff Lyman pitched the 8th inning, allowing 2 hits and no runs. At the plate: Freddie Freeman was 2-for-4 with his eighth double of the season. Brent Clevlen was 1-for-4 and his single in the 4th inning led to the only run for Gwinnett.

The Opposition: On the Mound: Adam Mills went 7.0 IP, yielding 1 R (0 ER) while striking out three and giving up only three hits. Relievers Scott Atchison and Robert Manuel combined to keep the G-Braves scoreless in the 7th and 8th innings. Atchison struck out one in .2 IP and Manuel went 1.1 IP with three strike outs. At the plate: Aaron Bates (2-for-4) and Dusty Brown (1-for-3) each belted a two-run home run.

On Deck: Pawtucket hosts Gwinnett in game three of a four-game series tomorrow at 6:15 p.m. at McCoy Stadium. G-Braves RHP Todd Redmond (3-3, 4.59 ERA) is scheduled to face RHP Boof Bonser (0-1, 12.54 ERA) of the Paw Sox.
