Red Sox Bring World Series Trophy To Manchester

MANCHESTER, NH - The Boston Red Sox will bring the 2007 World Series Trophy to New Hampshire for the Manchester Monarchs game this Saturday, December 1, it was announced today.
Pitcher Manny Delcarmen will also be in attendance as the team makes their stop in Manchester. This will include a public viewing and rally at the Verizon Wireless Arena in the late afternoon and a pre-game ceremony and photo opportunity at the Monarchs game as they host the Rockford IceHogs that evening.
The Red Sox will also have dinner with Webster House residents at the Verizon Wireless Arena prior to the puck drop.
The 2007 World Series Trophy will be on display for viewing on the plaza at the Verizon Wireless Arena from 4:00 - 6:00 p.m. A rally will begin at 5:45 p.m. featuring Manchester Mayor Frank Guinta, Monarchs President Jeff Eisenberg and the Red Sox.
"I am pleased to be able to bring Monarchs Country and Red Sox Nation together in one place," said Eisenberg. "Many Monarchs fans are members of Red Sox Nation. Sports are an integral part of the community and this is a great opportunity to have the Monarchs, Red Sox and fans come together."
Following the rally, the 2007 World Series Trophy will move inside the Verizon Wireless Arena where it will remain for the duration of the Monarchs game. Fans will be able to capture memorable photos with the championship trophy on the concourse for a $5 charitable donation to the Webster House.
Schedule of Events at Verizon Wireless Arena
4:00-5:45 p.m. - 2007 World Series Trophy on the Verizon Wireless Arena plaza for public viewing
5:45-6:00 p.m. - Red Sox rally with Manny Delcarmen and other special guests
6:05 p.m. - Doors open for the Monarchs game versus the IceHogs
7:05-7:15 p.m. - In-arena celebration at center ice with Delcarmen, a video tribute and a ceremonial puck drop
7:15 p.m. until the end of the game - 2007 World Series Trophy on display in the arena with photo opportunities for fans in attendance
The Monarchs Care Foundation, the charitable arm of the Monarchs, and the Red Sox Foundation, the charitable arm of the Red Sox, are pleased to collaborate on a charitable effort for Saturday's game with proceeds benefiting the Webster House. The Monarchs players will be wearing specialty Red Sox World Series Championship commemorative patches on their jerseys. The jerseys will be auctioned off to fans through both a silent auction during the game and a live post-game auction.
The Webster House is a state license group home for youth who are unable to live at home due to family issues or because they have no parents who are able to care for them. The Red Sox ownership group has developed a relationship with youngsters in a group home in each New England state as part of the outreach of the Red Sox Foundation, starting when Principal Owner John Henry visited Webster House in 2003.
"Webster House is honored and privileged to partner with the Red Sox and Monarchs," said the Webster House's Executive Director Lou Catano. "The children are thrilled to meet members from their favorite teams. Christmas has definitely come early this year!"
