Crunch All-Time Great J.F. Labbe to Drop First Puck

Syracuse, NY (November 29, 2007) - The Syracuse Crunch announced today that former Crunch goaltender J.F. Labbe will drop the ceremonial first puck on Friday, November 30 prior to Syracuse's game against the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins.

Labbe, 35, played parts of three seasons with Syracuse from 2000-01 to 2002-03, compiling a record of 43-32-13 with a 2.48 goals-against average and 11 shutouts. He ranks first all-time in franchise history in goals-against average (2.48) and shutouts (11). In addition, he ranks fourth in team history in games played by a goaltender (92) and is third in wins (43).

Labbe has appeared in four AHL All-Star games (1996, 1997, 1998, 2000). He was named a First-Team AHL All-Star following the 1996-97 season and Second-Team AHL All-Star following the 2001-02 as a member of the Crunch. He also backstopped two teams to Calder Cup championships while playing for Hershey in 1996-97 and Hartford in 1999-00.

Labbe also ranks seventh all-time in American Hockey League history in shutouts (27) and eleventh all-time in wins (202). A native of Sherbrooke, Quebec, Labbe joined the Crunch organization after being acquired by Columbus in a trade with the New York Rangers for defenseman Bert Robertsson on November 9, 2000.
