Red-Hot Memphis 901 FC Hits the Road Tomorrow to Face Regional Foe Saint Louis FC
May 31, 2019 - United Soccer League Championship (USL) - Memphis 901 FC News Release
FENTON, Missouri - Memphis 901 FC looks to extend its unbeaten streak to six-straight Saturday as the club travels to take on regional foe Saint Louis FC at 7:30 p.m.
The match will be featured locally on CW30 Memphis and available nationwide on ESPN+.
Memphis' form is red hot right now and the club is coming off its biggest win of the season, a 4-0 win over Hartford Athletic in the third round of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup.
U.S. Soccer announced yesterday that the club will host MLS side Orlando City SC in the fourth round of the tournament on June 12 at the Mike Rose Soccer Complex. Tickets for that match are now on sale at www.memphis901fc.com/tickets.
For now, Memphis (2-6-4, 10 pts) will shift its attention back to league play starting with tomorrow's fixture against Saint Louis (5-1-4, 19 pts). Memphis' recent form has had a lot to do with finishing. Memphis has scored 15 goals in its past five matches in all competitions in every which way possible.
The last time out in league play, Memphis scored twice off corner kicks to capture a point at Swope Park. Three players have at least two goals in the league this year; defender Marc Burch, forward Duane Muckette and forward Elliot Collier.
Saint Louis is led offensively by Russell Cicerone and Sam Fink, who both have three goals each in league play.
Memphis also announced today that defender Triston Hodge suffered a season-ending knee injury earlier this week.
The Trinidad & Tobago international appeared in 10 matches this season, earning eight starts all while leading the team with 32 tackles. He also led the team in duals won (88) and aerial duals won (35). He scored his only goal of the season against Swope Park Rangers in Memphis' last USL Championship match.
"Anytime you hear that one of your players has suffered an injury, much less one that ends their season, it's devastating news," 901 FC head coach Tim Mulqueen said. "Triston has had a great season for his club and country.
"More importantly, he's been a great teammate, and we know he'll continue to be one for the rest of the year despite not being able to play. We wish him a speedy and healthy recovery."
Memphis 901 FC returns home next Saturday for another Eastern Conference showdown against Indy Eleven.
Tickets for that match, which will also be the club's first Pride Night, are on sale now at www.memphis901fc.com/pridenight.
