RECAP | RECAP | IceCaps Clinch Playoff Spot in 4-1 Win over Marlies

April 15, 2017 - American Hockey League (AHL) - St. John's IceCaps News Release

ST. JOHN'S, NL - The St. John's IceCaps are headed to the Calder Cup Playoffs after a big 4-1 win over the Toronto Marlies on Saturday night at Mile One Centre.

Chris Terry kicked off the scoring early in the first off a play from Max Friberg. Anthony Camara added another one late in the second to stretch the lead to two. Daniel Audette and Yannick Veilleux picked up the helpers on Camara's marker.

Terry potted his second of the night - and his 30th of the year - to break the all-time IceCaps' franchise goal-scoring record to lift the IceCaps' lead to three. Charles Hudon and Jacob de la Rose recorded an assist each on the play.

Andrew Nielson got the Marlies on the board in the second, but it would be the only tally for the visitors, as St. John's came back with a third period goal from Audette (Bobby Farnham) to seal the victory for the IceCaps.

Charlie Lindgren was solid in net for St. John's, turning aside 31-of-32 shots, while Garret Sparks and Kasimir Kaskisuo split netminding duties for the Marlies, stopping 22-of-26 shots.
