RECAP - Four-Run Sixth Sinks BlueClaws 8-4 on Friday Night

LAKEWOOD, NJ - Greensboro used a four-run sixth inning to come from behind and top the BlueClaws 8-4 on Friday night at FirstEnergy Park.

Greensboro (6-3/44-35) has now taken the first two games of the series from the BlueClaws (4-5, 33-45) while Lakewood has dropped three straight games.

Lakewood jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first on a Carlos Duran RBI single and groundout by Wilson Garcia that scored Duran. After Greensboro got a run in second on an RBI double by John Silviano, the BlueClaws added a run on a throwing error by shortstop Anfernee Seymour for a 3-1 lead.

Meanwhile, BlueClaws starter Jose Taveras settled in, striking out the side in the third, before a Josh Naylor home run, his ninth of the year, in the fourth inning.

Then, the Hoppers had their big inning in the sixth, scoring four times. Naylor's RBI single tied the game before Isael Soto's RBI double put the Hoppers ahead, a ball lost in the lights by centerfielder Carlos Duran. Two batters later, Casey Soltis hit a two-run single to center to put Greensboro up 6-3.

Naylor would finish the game 3-4 with two RBIs while Angel Reyes went 2-5 with two RBIs for the Grasshoppers.

In the seventh, Emmanuel Marrero's RBI double brought Lakewood within 6-4, but Ryley MacEachern struck out Grenny Cumana and Carlos Duran to end the inning.

Greensboro would add two runs in the ninth off Jake Waguespack for the final margin.

Josh Tobias went 0-3 with a walk for the BlueClaws and saw his hitting streak snapped at 10. Deivi Grullon had a hit and two walks in the loss for the Blueclaws.

The series continues Saturday night at 7:05. RHP Drew Anderson (1-2) starts for Lakewood opposite RHP Steven Farnworth (2-3).
