Asheville Tourists News Release
GREENVILLE, SC-- The Asheville Tourists used a season-high six pitchers on Friday night against the Greenville Drive. The result was a 6-0 victory for the Tourists; their fourth shutout of the year. Offensively, Asheville pounded out 15 hits and won their fourth ballgame in a row.
Drasen Johnson, in a spot start, went 3.1 innings without any trouble. Alec Kenilvort retired the final two batters in the fourth then turned the ball over to Hayden Jones. The Tifton, Georgia native struck out the side in the fifth. Ben Bowden worked the sixth and breezed through the three batters he faced. Salvador Justo pitched around a leadoff single in the seventh and Alexander Guillen faced the minimum over the final two frames.
Asheville took a 1-0 lead when Chris Keck blasted a Home Run in the second inning. Sam Hilliard worked a bases loaded walk in the third to make it 2-0. Hilliard plated the Tourists third run of the game with an RBI groundout in the fifth.
In the sixth, the Tourists added a pair of runs on back-to-back RBI base hits by Mylz Jones and Brendan Rodgers. Chris Rabago plated a run in the ninth for good measure. Brian Mundell finished 4-for-4 with a walk while Rodgers and Keck each recorded three hits.
Greenville was held to a total of three hits; a season-low for a Tourists opponent in a single game. Anderson Espinoza lasted just 3.2 innings for the Drive and suffered his seventh loss of the season. Kenilvort was awarded his second win in as many days. The series continues on Saturday with a 7:05pm first pitch.
