Rebels Drop A 4-3 Overtime Decision In Prince Albert

PRINCE ALBERT - The Red Deer Rebels are heading home Saturday night after a 4-3 overtime loss to the Prince Albert Raiders. The Rebels came back from a 3-1 third period defecit to force extra time in dramatic fashion.

First period The Rebels found themselves down 1-0 midway through the period when the Raiders dominated. Josh Morrisey opened the scoring midway through the period. But a late goal from BROOKS MAXWELL with 41 seconds left sent both teams into their dressing rooms tied 1-1.

Second period The Raiders got the 2-1 goal at 4:06. when Reid Gartner was situated in the slot and went upstairs on Bartosak. Then, Prince Albert took a 3-1 lead three minutes later when Mark McNeill goes upstairs with a howitzer to make it 3-1 Prince Albert.

Third period The Rebels came s-o-o-o-o close to narrowing the gap to 3-2 when TYSON NESS thought he had scored seven minutes in. But, under video review, the goal was disallowed because it was kicked in. The birthday boy DOMINIK VOLEK did bring the Rebels within one when he batted the puck down and scored at 11:57. HAYDN FLEURY sent the teams to overtime at 19:59 when he scored his third of the year.
