Red Deer Rebels News Release

Just two nights after the Rebels blanked the Hurricanes in Lethbridge, the two Central Division rivals finished off their season series in Red Deer.

FIRST PERIOD

The Rebels opened the scoring early in this one. Wyatt Johnson set up Dominik Volek for a shot, Ty Rimmer made a great save but the rebound came right to Tyson Ness. He found the open cage for his 16th of the season and a 1-0 Red Deer lead just 1:33 into the game.

The home side doubled its lead thanks to a great effort by the Captain. Lethbridge was on the powerplay when defenceman Adam Henry broke his stick. That allowed Johnson and Turner Elson to break out shorthanded. Elson dangled through a few Hurricanes defenders before deking out Rimmer for his 26th goal of the season... 2-0 Rebels at 9:43.

Rhyse Dieno regained the team goal scoring lead in the late stages of the opening period. And he did so with an absolute beauty, skating around a Lethbridge defender before outwaiting Rimmer and scoring from a sharp angle... 3-0 Rebels at 18:24.

Lethbridge would get one back before the end of the period. Brady Ramsay found the loose puck and buried his 12th of the season past Patrik Bartosak... 3-1 Rebels at 19:34

SECOND PERIOD

The Hurricanes climbed right back into this one with a goal early in the middle frame. Bartosak made a great save on a deke attempt by Jaimen Yakubowski but Jamal Watson found the rebound. He cashed in for his 18th of the season, Rimmer earned the second assist on the 3-2 goal at 2:19.

THIRD PERIOD

Tyson Ness sealed the Rebels win with an unassisted empty netter with 5.7 seconds remaining... Rebels win 4-2
