August 31, 2018 - Major League Soccer (MLS)
Real Salt Lake News Release
SANDY, Utah - Real Salt Lake DF Shawn Barry has been called in to the Puerto Rican National Team for a CONCACAF Nations League qualifying match against Saint Kitts and Nevis. Barry will join Puerto Rico for the match on September 9 in Saint Kitts and Nevis and is scheduled to return prior to RSL's match on September 15 against Minnesota United FC (7:30 p.m. MT, Rio Tinto Stadium).
"Shawn has recovered very well this season and with Puerto Rico he has a chance to lead a younger group of players on the international level," RSL General Manager Craig Waibel said. "We are happy for Shawn and this is an opportunity that he's worked hard to earn."
Barry, 28, has three appearances for Real Salt Lake this season and played one match with Real Monarchs SLC in the USL after recovering from a knee injury that sidelined him for four months. He came to RSL prior to this season after spending his career in Austria, Germany and Poland. This will be his first call-up to Puerto Rico.
Real Salt Lake is fourth in the Western Conference at 12-10-5 (41 points) and will face the LA Galaxy on Saturday at Rio Tinto Stadium. Limited tickets are available at ksl.com/rsl and by calling 844-REAL-TIX (844-732-5849).
