The Fightin Phils (53-45) fell victim to a second straight start by Bryan Evans (6-5) of the New Britain Rock Cats (46-51), as they only managed three hits off him in a 7-2 loss. Brock Stassi clubbed his career-high ninth home run in the top of the ninth inning.

Zach Osborne put the Rock Cats on the board with a two-out RBI single off Colin Kleven (1-3) in the bottom of the second inning that gave New Britain a 1-0 lead. Osborne struck again with two outs in the bottom of the fourth inning off Kleven as he hit a two-run single that gave the Rock Cats a 3-0 lead.

The Rock Cats scored four runs off Kleven in the bottom of the fifth inning that extended their lead to 7-0. Kleven allowed all seven runs off six hits and two walks with three strikeouts in 4 1/3 innings. Ryan O'Sullivan came into the game with one out in the bottom of the fifth inning.

Evans tossed six shutout innings issuing just one walk with four strikeouts. Ryan O'Sullivan tossed 1 2/3 innings in relief and gave up just one hit. Hoby Milner recorded four strikeouts in two innings in relief.

Reading scored two runs off reliever Carlos Estevez in the top of the ninth inning to cut New Britain's lead to 7-2. Brock Stassi hit a solo home run for the first run. The home run for Stassi was his ninth of the season and a career high. Andrew Knapp scored on a single by Destin Hood and an error by short stop Zach Osborne.

The Fightin Phils and Rock Cats will continue their series tomorrow night. First pitch is at 7:05 pm on Friday night. Fans can listen to the game on CBS Sports Radio 1240 AM/98-5 FM and fightins.com beginning at 6:05 pm.
