Reading and Hershey Make Affiliation Official
October 4, 2004 - ECHL (ECHL)
Reading Royals News Release
Reading, PA - The Reading Royals, affiliates of the NHL's Los Angeles Kings and AHL's Manchester Monarchs, have signed a secondary AHL affiliation agreement with the Hershey Bears of the American Hockey League. The Royals and Bears had been operating under a "Working Agreement" for the last two seasons. In addition, the following lists highlights the Royals ECHL contracted players currently attending American Hockey League training camps.
"Our primary affiliation is, and will continue to remain, with Los Angeles and Manchester," commented Royals general manager Ray Delia. Delia went on to say the affiliation would create efficiencies logistically, "Working with Doug Yingst (Hershey Bears general manager) and his coaching staff over the past three seasons has allowed us to develop a solid working relationship. This affiliation makes a great deal of sense for both organizations for several reasons most notably, proximity and player development. This will create a more streamlined process with regard to player movement for both teams."
Bears general manager Doug Yingst echoed Delia's sentiments, "The Bears are proud to be affiliated with such a premier ECHL franchise. The Royals have a terrific operation, and there is a natural fit given the close proximity of the two clubs. We expect the partnership to be beneficial to both teams in 2004-05."
The following is a list of players under ECHL contracts or whose ECHL rights are retained by Reading currently attending AHL camps:
Manchester Monarchs: D-Simon Mangos, RW-Dan Sullivan, D-Frederic Belanger, and D-Troy Milam (ECHL rights acquired from Gwinnett)
