Atlantic City Boardwalk Bullies News Release

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. - The Atlantic City Boardwalk Bullies of the ECHL, a proud affiliate of the New York Islanders, will once again team up with several elementary schools in Atlantic County for the second annual "Check It Out Reading Program" presented by Ocean City Home Bank beginning on November 15. The "Check It Out Reading Program" promotes reading among local students by rewarding them with up to six tickets to see a Bullies home game in February at Historic Boardwalk Hall.

"The 'Check It Out Reading Program' was one of our most influential community programs last year," said Bullies Vice President and General Manager Dan Belisle. "As an organization, we're thrilled to provide kids with something that they can be excited about in order to help encourage reading in our schools."

The "Check It Out Reading Program" is designed for students in grades two through six. Students tally "goals" for every four books they read and receive two tickets to a Bullies game in February. Students who score a "hat-trick" (3 "goals" or 12 books) will receive six tickets and the opportunity to win prizes such as Bullies autographed sticks or other merchandise.

"Wooly" and a Bullies player will once again host an assembly at each participating school to kick off the program in style.

In its inaugural year, the "Check It Out Reading Program" was an instant success as nearly 2,500 students from 10 schools throughout Atlantic County participated in the program.

The Bullies begin a season-long five-game road trip at 8:30PM on Friday against the Peoria Rivermen at Carver Arena in Peoria. Atlantic City returns home to battle the Trenton Titans at 7:05PM on Saturday, November 13 at Historic Boardwalk Hall. For more information or to order tickets, call (609) 348-PUCK.
