Visalia Rawhide News Release

SAN BERNARDINO, CA-One night after a tough extra-inning loss, the Rawhide showed no signs of a hangover, as they pounded Inland Empire 9-1.

Ryan Wheeler (2-0) pitched six stellar innings, allowing 1 run on 5 hits while striking out 9 and walking none. Inland's lone run against him came in the 5th, but the Rawhide already led 4-0 by then.

Ryan Court's 2-run homer to right field put Visalia on top 2-0, and RBI hits by Chris McMurray and Gerson Montilla in the 4th doubled the lead against Inland starter Eswarlin Jimenez (1-3).

The Rawhide broke the game open in the 7th, as they scored 5 times of the Sixers' bullpen. Court, McMurray, Tom Belza, David Nick, and Adam Eaton all picked up RBIs to give the 'Hide an unassailable lead.

As usual, Visalia's bullpen was excellent; Kaleb Fleck pitched 2 scoreless innings, and Jake Barrett threw a perfect ninth to end the game.

Major Leaguer Adam Eaton, in his first rehab game with the Rawhide, went 0 for 5 with a hit-by-pitch and an RBI. He is expected to remain with the team through Saturday.

With the win, Visalia remained 2 games behind San Jose for first place, and moved 5 ahead of Stockton for 2nd.

The Rawhide (23-13) continue the series on Sunday at 2:05.
