Rancho Cucamonga Quakes News Release

Lake Elsinore, CA - Jarret Martin earned his first win of the year and the Quakes used a pair of home runs to power past the Lake Elsinore Storm on Sunday afternoon, 8-0 at The Diamond.

Ryan Mount continued his hot hitting and Bobby Coyle finished 3-for-5, as both went deep in the victory.

Martin (1-5) enjoyed his best outing of the year, working a season-high 6 2/3 innings. The lefty allowed five hits and walked just one, punching out six batters, before turning it over to the Quakes' bullpen.

Eric Eadington and Freddie Cabrera worked the final seven outs, completing the shut-out win, Rancho's third of the year.

Storm starter James Needy (0-1) had a solid day, but not nearly as efficient as Martin's. Needy really made just one mistake, as he surrendered a three-run homer to Mount in the fourth, as the Quakes took a 3-0 lead on Mount's fifth blast of the year.

Coyle went yard against Trevor Holder in the eighth, highlighting a five-run inning that put the game away. Noel Cuevas also tripled home a pair of runs and then scored on a wild pitch to complete the frame.

The Quakes (19-18) remain three games out of first place and will look to make it three of four in Lake Elsinore on Monday, sending Duke Von Schamann (4-1) to the hill against Storm left-hander Frank Garces (4-2) at 6:05pm.

After this four-game series concludes, the Quakes will take a day off on Tuesday, then return to action at LoanMart Field on Wednesday, May 15th, as they host the San Jose Giants in a four-game home stand. Tickets are available by calling (909) 481-5000 or online at rcquakes.com. We hope to see you very soon at LoanMart Field...Go Quakes!
