Arizona Rattlers News Release
MESA, Ariz. - The Arizona Rattlers announce the signing of WR MARKEE WHITE and WR CHRIS CARTER.
White signed with the St. Louis Rams as a free agent in 2007 and participated in training camp. In 2010, White led the United Football League's Hartford Colonials in receiving, catching 26 passes for 304 yards and two touchdowns. He holds a league record for single game receiving yards, catching nine passes for 152 yards and one touchdown in a 27-26 victory over the Sacramento Mountain Lions.
"I'm ready to get started with the Arizona Rattlers," said White. "Having played with QB NICK DAVILA in Spokane in 2009 - we developed a good relationship, good chemistry and I'm ready to get back with him. Arizona has a winning history and I feel like I will be playing with a chip on my shoulder to get out on the field and prove myself all over again."
The 6-7 receiver played for the Spokane Shock for three seasons (2009-2011), one in af2 where he won a championship with the squad (2009). When the Shock moved into the Arena Football League, the wide receiver collected 97 receptions, 1,241 yards and 20 touchdowns. White earned Offensive Player of the Game honors in ArenaBowl XXIII, snaring nine catches for 99 yards and four touchdowns.
White finished his collegiate career at Texas State University where he played both football and basketball. After his senior season (2005), White was named 1st-Team All-Southland Conference and led the Bobcats with 56 receptions for five touchdowns, helping lead the squad to a birth in 2005 NCAA semifinals.
Carter participated in the Seattle Seahawks training camp in 2011.
"I believe this is a good opportunity for me," said Carter. "Playing Arena Football will be a little bit different, but Arizona has great tradition and I'm just ready to come in and play."
The wide receiver played collegiately for UC-Davis, where he collected a school record in career catches with 213 receptions for 3,074 yards and 15 touchdowns during his tenure. In his senior season, Carter grabbed 85 receptions - second all-time at UC-Davis - for 889 yards and four touchdowns. Carter is a two-time first-team All-GWC wide receiver, earning GWC Freshman of the Year in 2006 and Offensive Player of the Year in 2009.
