Cleveland Gladiators News Release

CLEVELAND - The Cleveland Gladiators are pleased to announce that QB JOHN DUTTON has been assigned to the team for the 2012 season by the Arena Football League office. Dutton will be entering his third season with the Gladiators and his 12th in the AFL overall.

"We are really excited for John to come back and lead us next season," said Gladiators Head Coach Steve Thonn. "He is one of the all-time greats to ever play quarterback in this league and he showed us how well he can still play in that playoff game last season."

He missed most of the 2011 season with an injury suffered in the season-opening victory over Spokane. Dutton's only other appearance came in relief during the playoff loss against Georgia, completing 8-of-12 passes for 114 yards and three touchdowns in just one quarter of play.

Dutton has completed 2,908 passes on 4,599 attempts for a 63.2 completion percentage, 33,544 yards and 669 passing touchdowns. He boasts a career passer rating of 110.8 in 139 games played with 119 starts. He is a two-time ArenaBowl champion, winning one with the San Jose SaberCats in 2002 and the other with the Colorado Crush in 2005.

Dutton is the fourth member of the Gladiators' 2011 roster that will be coming back in 2012. Other players returning from 2011 include WR DOMINICK GOODMAN, WR THYRON LEWIS and OL MIKE WARD.

Cleveland has also been assigned DL TONY KELLY and FB/DL DERIK STEINER during the free agency period.
