Kansas City Command News Release

KANSAS CITY - The Kansas City Command announced today that it will host its first open tryout of the offseason on Saturday, October 29 at the Kansas City Soccer Dome, located at 5909 Equitable Road. Registration will begin on-site at 3:30 p.m., with the first workout of the day at 4:30 p.m.

"Last year, we grabbed Cornelius Dixon from one of our open tryouts," Command head coach Danton Barto said. "Cornelius ended up starting 12 games for us on the offensive line before he was injured. Everyone roots for the underdog or the hometown hero. It's just something the fans want to see."

All participants have the potential to be offered a spot in training camp. Testing will include the 40-yard dash, shuttle run, standing broad jump, position-specific drills, and the L-Drill. There will be no contact drills in the open tryout.

Participants must be 18 or older with a valid form of ID, have completed high school eligibility, and must complete a medical waiver at the door. They must also bring their own athletic wear (no pads are required), arrive dressed and ready for testing, and should bring a copy of game film and a resume (if applicable). Water will be supplied, but all participants may bring their own food and are advised to eat small portions throughout the day. Trash receptacles will be provided. First-aid will be available for those taking part in the tryout.
