
Rattlers Sign a Pair of Linemen

MESA, Ariz. - The Arizona Rattlers announce the signing of DL MARQUAY LOVE and OL GREG NILAND.
Love participated on the practice squads of the Miami Dolphins (2007-2008) and the New Orleans Saints (2008). The defensive lineman most recently played with the Swarco Raiders Tirol of the American Football Club.
"I'm very excited about joining the Arizona Rattlers for the opportunity of being with a good program, which won a National Conference Championship last year," said Love. "This team has a great coaching staff. I spoke with GM/HEAD COACH KEVIN GUY and the DIR. OF PLAYER PERSONNEL DAVID TURNER and they made me feel comfortable in my decision to come play in Arizona."
Love Appeared in 43 games with 34 starts during his four-year career at Houston (2003-2006). He totaled 177 tackles, 25 stops for loss, eight sacks and six blocked kicks in his career. Love started in all 14 contests at nose tackle as a senior and was a second-team All-Conference USA pick as he posted 53 tackles, 11 stops for loss, two sacks, a fumble recovery and a forced fumble. Named to the Conference USA All-Freshman Team in 2003 when he registered 36 tackles, including a career-high three sacks and a pair of blocked kicks that year.
Niland signed with the Arizona Cardinals in 2011 and participated in the Detroit Lions training camp in August.
"I'm very excited to continue playing football," said Niland. "It's great to be a part of a program that is successful and hopefully we can continue that success."
Niland transferred to UMass in 2010 for his senior season after playing at Northeastern. The offensive lineman played center and guard in preseason camp after being a left tackle at Northeastern for three years. Niland started all 10 games at left guard in 2010 on a line that allowed just 13 sacks and an average of 172 rushing yards per game that season.
