Wisconsin Timber Rattlers News Release
PEORIA, IL- Eric Blakeley had four hits, Josh Womack each drove in three runs, and Ryan Feierabend pitched seven strong innings in the Wisconsin Timber Rattler's 18-7 win Monday afternoon. The Rattlers set season highs for runs and hits in the game at O'Brien Field.
Wisconsin (22-28) broke open a scoreless game in the fifth inning. Chris Colton, who had three hits on the day singled to start the inning. Jeremy Dutton executed the hit-and-run to perfection to put runners on the corners with no outs. Blakeley, the first Rattler with a four hit game this season, drove in Colton with Wisconsin's third straight single. Josh Ellison made it four straight singles and knocked in Dutton for a 2-0 advantage.
Womack was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Adam Jones singled in a run. A sacrifice fly by Evel Bastida, a run scoring wild pitch, and an RBI single by Brent Metheny made it 6-0 Rattlers. Metheny had three hits and two RBI on the day.
Feierabend allowed his first base runner in the bottom of the fifth. He walked Daric Barton on four pitches with one out, but he quickly ended the inning by getting Omar Pena to ground into a double play.
The Rattler bats went back to work in the sixth to push seven more runs across the plate. Womack tripled in a pair of runs andscored on a sacrifice fly by Jones. Later in the inning, Metheny and Colton drove in runs with singles, a passed ball allowed another run to score. Womack capped the inning by drawing a bases loaded walk.
The Chiefs (29-21) finally got to Feierabend in the sixth. Tyler Parker got the first Peoria hit with a lead-off triple. He would score on a Matt Pagnozzi single. Brendan Ryan's RBI double scored one run and a sacifice fly by John Santor made the score 13-3.
Colton tacked on another Rattler run in the top of the seventh inning with an RBI grounder. Wisconsin added three runs in the eighth on a sacrifice fly by Bastida, a two run double by Chris Collins, and a Peoria error.
Feierabend left after the seventh inning and picked up the win. He allowed six hits and three runs, walking one and striking out four.
The Chiefs got two runs in the eighth off the Rattler bullpen. A Casey Palmer two run homer in the ninth ended the scoring.
Bastida was 0-for-4 with a pair of sacrifice flies, but saw his thirteen game hitting streak come to an end for the Rattlers.
The Rattlers will start a four game series with the Lansing Lugnuts Tuesday evening. Nibaldo Acosta (2-6, 3.57ERA) is scheduled to start for the Rattlers. The Lugnuts are sending Justin Jones (1-2, 3.18ERA) to the hill. Game time at Oldmobile Park is 6:05pm CDT. The Rattlers return home from their twelve game road trip on Saturday, June 5 to host the Swing of the Quad Cities at 7:05pm.
