Cedar Rapids Kernels News Release
CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa â The Kernels will face the Lansing Lugnuts and former major league All-Star Ryan Dempster in today's homestand finale at 2 p.m. at Veterans Memorial Stadium.
Dempster, who underwent reconstructive elbow surgery in August 2003, will be making his second rehab start for Lansing today. He is scheduled to go three innings or 45 pitches, whichever comes first. Lansing's major league affiliate, the Chicago Cubs, are hopeful Dempster can work his arm back into shape by August, in time for the stretch run in the National League's Central Division.
Nic Touchstone, who has allowed only four hits and no runs in his last three appearances (17 innings) will start for the Kernels.
Fans attending today's game can buy tickets to sit in the Randy Kuehl Honfidence Pavilion. Tickets for the pavilion are $21 ticket and include unlimited food and beverage from one hour before game time through the seventh inning. Existing ticket-holders can upgrade their tickets to the Pavilion.
Today's game also features a "Patio Daddio'' giveaway. Two lucky fans will be drawn to win a year's supply of bratwurst from Klement's sausages, as well as tailgate grills and utensils, aprons and t-shirts.
Gates open at 1 p.m. First pitch is 2 p.m.
