Wisconsin Rapids Rafters News Release

Wisconsin Rapids, Wis.- The Wisconsin Rapids Rafters' (15-26, 3-3) bats stayed hot as they took down the Madison Mallards (23-18, 5-3) by a score of 6-2. Wisconsin Rapids was solid in all phases of the game as they won their third in a row.

Rafters' starter Domenic Mazza (UC Santa Barbara) was dominant in his 7 innings of work. Mazza ran into some trouble immediately in the top of the 1 st but he induced a Matt Theis (Virginia) groundout to end the inning. The southpaw would roll from there as he retired the next 12 Mallards in succession. Mazza struck out 7 on the night and the one run he gave up came from an error that he committed.

Offensively, the Rafters made Mallards' starter Tyler Buffett (Oklahoma State) work hard as he threw 82 pitches in 4.1 innings. They could not make him pay though as only 2 earned runs were charged to the righty. Wisconsin Rapids kept pushing though and the breakthrough came on the second home run of the season for the DH Tyler Servais (Princeton).

The knockout punch came in the bottom of the 7th. With Clark Eagan (Arkansas) stationed on first after being hit by a pitch, Keelin Rasch (Louisiana Monroe) would blast an Andrew Buckley (California) fastball deep into the night to put the Rafters up 4-1. Eagan also was a standout performer as he never was retired, going 4-4 with two RBIs, and a run scored.

Despite leaving ten runners on base, the Rafters were in firm control throughout as they evened up their second half record. The two teams will continue the six game series tomorrow night as it is Advanced Disposal "Go Green" Night. All fans in attendance will receive an Advanced Disposal Rosco Garbage Truck Bobblehead. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 pm.
