Kenosha Kingfish News Release
Kenosha, Wis. - In the second of a two game set with La Crosse, the Kingfish got the job done early and often to claim a 3-2 win. It was an essential victory as King Elvis' crew improved to 6-4, placing them in a tie for third in the South Division. The team now starts a six game road trip with eyes on climbing even higher in the standings.
The Kingfish took the lead right away in the first with the top of the line-up showing their strength. Chris Godinez (2-4, R) singled, followed by another single from Pat Porter (4-4, 2R, RBI). Zach Ratcliff (1-4, 2 RBI) then doubled to produce two RBI and give Kenosha the early edge. Later in the contest, Porter would once again score on a deep home run to right field, his second homer in four games.
Stumping the Loggers was starting pitcher J.D Nielsen. The lefty was brilliant, allowing just one run in six innings of work while striking out five. Despite a run in the seventh on Duffy Dyer's bullpen, relievers E.J Trapino and PJ Schuster pitched a shutout final two frames to close out the victory. Overall the Kenosha pitching staff was spectacular, allowing just three Logger hits all evening.
The Kingfish begin a road series tomorrow against the Wisconsin Woodchucks before continuing to La Crosse and then Battle Creek. King Elvis' crew will return to Simmons Field on Thursday, July 17th for Snap-on Sockets "What If" Night.
The Kingfish office is located at 7817 Sheridan Road and is open from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. For more information on 7-game packs, season or group tickets, please log on to kingfishbaseball.com or call 262.653.0900.
