River City Rascals News Release

O'Fallon, Mo. - River City stranded the bases loaded in the second and third innings and had them loaded in the sixth but were able to score just two runs on a night where the offense was just as cold as the weather, stranding nine base runners and failing to convert eight walks into runs, falling short to the Beach Bums 8-2.

River City (10-2) scored one run in the third inning after stranding the bases loaded in the previous frame, but did the same in the third and Traverse City (7-5) took the momentum and control of the game in the fourth.

The Beach Bums got a three-run homer from Frontier League leader Jeff Flagg, his sixth this season, to take a 3-1 lead and added three more runs in the fifth on five singles, with the fourth-straight chasing starter Preston Vancil (1-1).

The Rascals loaded the bases in the sixth with no one out, but got just one run on a double play ball from Matt Serna that led to an inning-ending strikeout of Eric Williams.

Dan Lazzaroni pitched three scoreless innings in relief and Justin Gill followed with one but the offense was held in check the final three innings while the Bums added two more runs in the ninth off Nick Kennedy.

River City begins a three game home stand Friday when Evansville comes to town. The Otters will send lefty Garrett Bullock (0-1, 3.86) to the mound against longtime Rascal Tony Marsala who makes his 2012 debut.
