River City Rascals News Release

O'Fallon, Mo. - River City took a 1-0 lead in the first inning, stretched it to 4-0 after the second, and Preston Vancil pitched around trouble all night to earn his sixth win as the Rascals took the series and look for their first sweep since the all-star break.

River City took a 1-0 lead after Eric Williams led off the first with a double, moved to second on a groundout and scored on a balk. It was 4-0 after the second when the Rascals strung together three two-out singles and scored a pair of runs on a pair of errors in the inning.

Ben Hewett drove in a run in the fourth after Curran Redal singled up the middle and advanced on a Matt Serna sac-hit.

Vancil (6-8) allowed just one run on six hits while pitching out of trouble, stranding eight Road Warriors on the bases through his seven innings.

Jeremy Synan and Chris Andreas scored Williams and Charlie Lisk with seventh-inning singles to stretch the lead to 7-1 before the Road Warriors (5-15) plated a run in the ninth and loaded the bases before Nick Kennedy entered to enduce a game-ending double play.

The Rascals look for the sweep tomorrow with first pitch set for 6:05.
