River City Rascals News Release

Evansville, Ind. - After being swept in the double header yesterday, the Rascals got a dominant pitching performance from Preston Vancil who held a two-hitter into the eighth as Curran Redal led the offense with a 3-for-4 night en-route to a 5-3 win.

Vancil (4-6) retired the first nine he faced before the Rascals got him a 1-0 lead in the fourth. A pair of two-out singles from Redal and Keli'i Zablan put runners at the corner before Redal scored on a passed ball for the one run lead.

The Rascals (31-29) took a 3-0 lead in the fifth on four singles and two walks. After losing two base runners on the bases in the inning, Redal drove a two-out single up the middle for the three-run lead.

Two more runs came across in the seventh for River City. Matt Serna and Redal started the frame with hits and after a sacrifice and hit-by-pitch loaded the bases, Zach Deutscher drew an RBI walk before Eric Williams flew to center for an RBI and 5-0 lead.

The Otters (25-35) got back in the game in the eighth on a two-run homer, two errors, a walk, and sacrifice fly to close the game to 5-3 before Brandon Cunniff came on to pick up his second save with a perfect ninth.

After a day off Tuesday, the Rascals square off against division rival Gateway for a three game series starting Wednesday at 7:05. For tickets and more information about the home stand visit www.rivercityrascals.com or call 636.240.BATS (2287).
