Miners Sign Triple-A Catcher

Marion, IL - The Southern Illinois Miners have announced the signing of catcher Ryan Eigsti who had been recently playing with the Kansas City Royals organization at the Triple - A level. Eigsti, 26, of Eureka, Illinois brings a large resume of affiliated baseball experience to the Southern Illinois Miners. He was drafted by the Kansas City Royals organization in the 15th round of the MLB June Amateur Draft.

This season, Eigsti had been playing with the Triple - A Omaha Storm Chasers of the Pacific Coast League. In 11 games with the Storm Chasers, Eigsti batted .167 with two hits in 12 plate appearances. He scored one run and walked once.

In 2011, Eigsti played with three teams in the Royals Organization. He played with Omaha for one game, Northwest Arkansas Naturals (AA) of the Texas League, and the Wilmington Blue Rocks (A+) of the Carolina League. With Northwest, Eigsti played in 23 games. He recorded 15 hits in 58 at bats and scored five runs. He hit six doubles with two home runs and 10 RBI's. He stole one base and walked six times. Eigsti registered a batting average of .259 with the Naturals. In Wilmington, Eigsti played in 14 games and recorded 10 hits in 40 at bats. He scored four runs and hit one double. He hit one home run and brought in five runs. He walked six times and recorded a batting average of .250.

In 2010, Eigsti played with Northwest and the Arizona League Royals (Rk). In Northwest, Eigsti recorded a batting average of .161 and had five hits in 13 games. He scored three runs and had two RBI's. Also, he walked three times. With the Royals, Eigsti had seven hits in eight games and scored two runs. He hit one double and had two RBI's. He stole one base and walked three times. His batting average was .280

In 2009, Eigsti played with Wilmington. In 104 games, Eigsti registered 65 hits, 14 doubles, one triple, three home runs and 35 RBI's. He scored 41 runs, stole four bases and was caught stealing twice. He walked 42 times and had a batting average of .201.

In 2008, Eigsti played with the Burlington Bees (A) of the Midwest League. He recorded 72 hits in 105 games and scored 33 runs. He hit 18 doubles, one triple and 9 home runs with 35 RBI's. He stole one base and was caught stealing twice. He walked 20 times and recorded a batting average of .218.

In 2007, with Idaho Falls (Rk) of the Pioneer League, Eigsti played in 30 games. He had 20 hits with 19 runs scored. His batting average was .206 and hit two home runs with 12 RBI's. He hit two doubles and walked 14 times.

Ryan played for Bradley University, which is located in Peoria, Illinois. Throughout his three year career at Bradley, Eigsti hit .270 in 138 games played. He hit six home runs and had 70 RBI's. He amassed 116 hits, 57 runs with 28 doubles and five triples. He stole eight bases and was caught stealing four times. He walked 45 times and had an on base percentage of .355.
