Ogden Raptors News Release
OGDEN, UT - For possibly the last time, the Ogden Raptors welcomed the Helena Brewers into Lindquist Field.
The hosts, however, weren't very gracious. Ogden broke open a tie game in the fifth and kept adding on to finish off the sweep of the Brewers with a 13-4 victory.
After three unearned runs for Helena knotted the game at three apiece in the fourth, Matt Cogen launched a two-run homer to give Ogden the lead back in the bottom of the fifth.
In the sixth, Jefrey Souffront took a walk and, with one out, Jacob Amaya tripled him in. Drew Avans followed with a triple of his own before scoring on a wild pitch to increase the lead to 8-3.
The back-breaking inning came in the seventh. Niko Hulsizer walked, James Outman was hit by a pitch and Jair Camargo also drew a free pass before Souffront hit a sacrifice fly.
After a Jeremy Arocho reached on an infield single to load the bases again, and Amaya stroked a two-run single up the middle. A pair of wild pitches then brought home Arocho and then Amaya to put the Raptors up by 10.
Ogden had taken the lead in the first as Avans, Dillon Paulson and Cogen hit consecutive singles.
In the third, after Paulson and Outman took walks, Camargo lifted a two-out pop fly to shallow right field. Three Brewers chased it but all stopped and watched it drop as both runners scored.
Helena tied the game in the fourth on an error, followed by a two-run home run.
Jose Chacin was dominant and earned his fourth win with six innings, six hits and no earned runs.
Ogden remains four games ahead of Idaho Falls, who beat Missoula to avoid a sweep, with seven games left in the first half. Thanks to possession of the tiebreaker, the Raptors need just three wins and/or Idaho Falls losses in the final week to clinch the first half South division title.
After a day off Tuesday, the Raptors will start a three-game series in Missoula on Wednesday at 7:15 PM.
