Ogden Raptors News Release

The Ogden Raptors scored five runs in the third inning en route to a 9-3 win over the Idaho Falls Chukars Sunday at Lindquist Field.

Trailing 1-0, Idaho Falls starter Javier Reynoso issued consecutive walks to Devan Ahart, Joe Meggs and Cody Bellinger to start the third inning. After a wild pitch brought home Ahart, Julian Leon hit a two-run double off the wall in right field. After a groundout moved Leon to third, Ivan Vela walked. As Yensys Capellan struck out, Vela stole second and Leon stole home on the throw to second. Andrew Godbold then singled for his first professional hit, driving in Vela for a 5-1 advantage.

The Raptors added two more in the fourth. Ahart started the inning with a double, and Joe Meggs was hit by a pitch. After Ahart and Meggs stole second and third, Bellinger brought in Ahart with a sacrifice fly. Once Meggs moved to third on a wild pitch, Leon drove in Meggs with a groundout to give the Raptors a 7-1 lead.

In the seventh, Justin Chigbogu hit his league-leading 11th home run. With one out, Chigbogu hit a solo homer out to right field to put Ogden up 8-1.

Jose De Leon earned his fourth win of the season. In six innings, the right hander allowed one run on five hits with seven strikeouts. De Leon's strikeout total is up to 57, leading the Pioneer League.

Bernardo Reyes earned his first career save by completing the final three innings.

The Raptors and Chukars meet again for a two-game series in Idaho Falls starting Monday. John Richy takes the mound for Ogden against Torey Deshazier. Game starts at 7:15 and can be heard on 97.5 The Zone.
