Raptors Explosive Offense Reels in First Home Win
May 29, 2025 - Pioneer League (PL)
Ogden Raptors News Release
In the third matchup of this six-game series, the Raptors combined a deep bullpen with a "pass-the-baton" offensive approach to get it done, both with the bats and on the mound. In their first home win of the 2025 season, the Raptors simply refused to take no for an answer, immediately answering the Highwheelers' go-ahead single in the first inning with five runs of their own in the bottom half.
Station to station, the Raptors executed beautifully - never trying to do too much, but instead trusting the "next-man-up" mentality. The scoring began with a two-run single off the bat of Chris Sargent to give Ogden the lead. They added three more runs in the frame thanks to a hit-by-pitch, a wild pitch, and a fielder's choice - classic small-ball execution to seize early momentum.
In the second, they tacked on three more runs, fueled by an RBI single from Connor Bagnieski and some well-timed baserunning. The Highwheelers fought back in the third with three runs to trim the deficit, but that momentum was short-lived. Carmine Lane responded with authority, blasting back-to-back two-run homers in his next two at-bats to stretch the Raptors' lead to eight.
With plenty of insurance in hand, the Raptors' bullpen took over and closed the door. Brett Erwin, Shawn Triplett, Cameron Edmonson, and Nik Cardinal combined to toss the final five innings, allowing just three runs and keeping the Highwheelers well out of striking distance.
Securing a big first win in front of the Ogden faithful, the Raptors are riding high into tomorrow evening's 6:30 PM Game 4 matchup against the Yuba-Sutter Highwheelers - looking to make it two straight.
