Raptors 905 Fall to the Charge in Cleveland

Raptors 905 (11-18), the NBA G League affiliate of the Toronto Raptors fell to the Cleveland Charge (12-16) 106-116 Friday evening. Kobi Simmons paced the 905 with 16 points, three rebounds, 10 assists, a block, and a steal in the loss. Cleveland's Zaire Smith put up a career-high 33 points, four rebounds, four assists, two steals, and two blocks while shooting 7-10 from three-point range.

Raptors 905 opened the ball game trading baskets with seven of the team's first 11 points coming at the hands of Makur Maker. The Cavs gained an early lead going up 21-15 before a 13-2 905 run gave them a five-point advantage going into the second quarter. The home team battled back in the second quarter, outscoring the visitors 32-26 in the frame, taking a one-point lead going into the break.

Down one point, the two teams traded baskets to open the second half. The score was eventually tied at 61 before a 12-2 Charge run gave them a 10-point lead late in the fourth. Smith led the third-quarter charge with 17 points. Down 13 in the fourth, the 905 would go on a 16-3 run to tie the game before Cleveland responded with eight straight points. The 905 attempted to mount their comeback bid but were unable to overcome the deficit. The Raptors 905 have now been eliminated from playoff contention.

The 905 received complementary scoring from Maker who secured his third straight double-double with 21 points and 11 rebounds. Sharife Cooper added his own double-double, with 29 points and 12 assists, adding five steals in the match.

The two teams meet again Sunday afternoon to close out their season series. Tip-off scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
