Raptors 905 (7-10), the NBA G League affiliate of the Toronto Raptors, fell to the Texas Legends (8-9) 115-123 Tuesday afternoon at the 2022 G League Showcase. Reggie Perry led the 905 with 26 points, four rebounds, seven assists, and a block in the loss. Texas was led by Tyler Dorsey who had a game-high 28 points, five rebounds, and five assists.
The 905 opened the ball game strong, as they took an 18-9 lead early in the opening frame. The Legends quickly responded going on a 10-0 run before they ended the frame evenly matched at 38. The two teams continued to trade baskets throughout the second quarter, but a late push allowed Texas to take the three-point lead going into the half.
The Legends were able to take control of the matchup in the third quarter as they outscored the 905 29-19 behind a balanced scoring effort.
New at the NBA G League Winter Showcase, all games have an untimed fourth quarter with a target score end. The target score is the leading team's score at the end of the third quarter plus 25 points. The target score for this game was set at 123. The 905 fought back in the fourth quarter, outscoring the Legends 30-25 behind 15 fourth-quarter points from Raptors' assignee Justin Champagnie (21 points, 13 rebounds) but were unable to reach the target score.
Sterling Brown made his Raptors 905 debut putting up 16 points, eight rebounds, a steal, and a block, while the Legends were paced by Grant Riller who had 18 points, five rebounds, four assists, a steal, and a block.
The Raptors 905 face the Mexico City Capitanes on Wednesday, tip-off slated for 11:00 pm, while the Legends take on the Long Island Nets Thursday at 2:30 pm.
