Brockton Rox News Release

Brockton, MA (June 29, 2008) - The Brockton Rox started the scoring on Sunday afternoon, but had a 2-0 lead erased defiantly as the Ottawa Rapidz scored nine un-answered runs en route to a 9-2 win over Brockton at Rapidz Stadium.

The Rox jumped out with a run in the first inning on 3B Phillip Cuadrado's sacrifice fly, and extended the lead to 2-0 in the second on C Josh Vander Hey's RBI single. However the offense managed just three hits the rest of the way against Ottawa starter RHP Greg Bunn and the Rapidz's bullpen.

Bunn delivered his strongest start of the season with seven innings of work in which he struck out six and allowed only six hits. He picked up his first victory and was backed up by a solid offensive showing. Ottawa tied the score at 2-2 in the bottom of the second and then scored at least once in four consecutive innings to run the score to 9-2.

Rox starter LHP Chris McDonough took the loss in the game. He departed with one out in the fifth inning, trailing 4-2. The Rapidz managed to score frequently for the duration of the game, running away with the victory on Sunday afternoon.

The win sets up Monday's meeting as the decisive game in the series. Ottawa has not won a series in franchise history and they will try to accomplish that stepping-stone goal on Monday. Rox RHP Wayne Lundgren will start against Ottawa LHP Fraser Robinson. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 PM.
