(Little Falls, N.J., June 29, 2008) The Nashua Pride pounded out 13 hits against the New Jersey Jackals, winning the rubber game of a three game series, 6-2, at Yogi Berra Stadium in Little Falls, N.J. on Sunday afternoon.
Nashua first baseman Bryan Duplissie led the way, going 3-for-5, blasting his fifth home run of the season and adding a double to finish the night a triple shy of the cycle with three RBI. Left fielder Dennis Abreu was also just a triple short of the cycle, ending the night 3-for-5, crushing his fifth homer of the year with a double and an RBI. Right Fielder Jeremy Pickrel also homered in the game, going 1-for-4 with an RBI, while designated hitter Jerod Edmondson notched a three hit evening, going 3-for-4 with a run scored.
Pride starting pitcher Hideki Nagasaka (5-1) earned his fifth victory of the season, going seven innings, giving up two runs, on six hits, one walk and four strike outs. Adam Piechowski went the rest of the way for Nashua, dealing two innings of scoreless work, giving up just one hit and striking out two.
Jackals' starter Mike Vicaro (4-3) suffered the loss, lasting six innings, giving up five runs, on nine hits, four walks and six strike outs. Reliever Ted Serro was also tagged for a run.
New Jersey received a home run from right fielder Luke Allen, who went 1-for-4 in the game, while second baseman Marcus Sanders was 1-for-3 with a triple and a run scored.
The Pride head home to Historic Holman Stadium to face the Atlantic City Surf on Monday night, at 7:05pm, when Lance Stevens (4-2) makes his eighth start for Nashua.
