November 22, 2021 - Major League Soccer (MLS)
Colorado Rapids News Release
The Colorado Rapids will begin the 2022 Major League Soccer regular season with a visit to Banc of California Stadium to take on Los Angeles Football Club on Saturday, Feb. 26, at 1:30 p.m. MT. Colorado will then host their 2022 Home Opener on Saturday, March 5, when Atlanta United FC visits DICK'S Sporting Goods Park at 4 p.m. MT.
The Rapids' season opener features a rematch of their 2021 regular season finale, a thrilling 5-2 Decision Day victory that propelled the Rapids to a first-place finish in the Western Conference for the first time in club history.
Colorado is 7-4-4 (W-L-D) in season opening matches since 2007, including 1-0-1 under head coach Robin Fraser, and are 9-2-4 in Home Openers at DICK'S Sporting Goods Park all-time.
Rapids games will be broadcast live on the Altitude Sports network and programming information will be announced at a later time.
Colorado is still very much in the 2021 season, however, as the Rapids kick off their Audi 2021 MLS Cup Playoffs run at DICK'S Sporting Goods Park on Thursday, November 25, in what will be the first-ever MLS match played on Thanksgiving Day (2:30 p.m. MT). After earning a first-round bye for finishing as the top seed in the West, Colorado will face Portland Timbers FC in the Western Conference Semifinal on the national holiday.
